The Challenge
Patients deserve the latest services, physicians require the latest technology and third-party payers demand the greatest efficiency. In the end, Wood County Hospital is responsible for meeting the expectations of all three groups: patients, physicians, and those that pay the majority of the cost for healthcare today - Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurers.
As is true with all hospitals in today's high-tech, high-touch healthcare environment, Wood County Hospital leaders are finding that a decades-old building cannot be changed in small ways to adapt to the changes in the way hospitals deliver healthcare. To continue to be successful, the Hospital needs to update, renovate and expand to meet the needs of the patients.
The expansion will greatly enhance the quality of care available at Wood County Hospital and will provide the privacy that reduces risk of infection and the comforts that today's patients expect. Wood County Hospital needs to invest $42 million in a major renovation and expansion of the hospital facility.
